A Kingdom of Dreams

Judul : A Kingdom of Dreams (Westmoreland #1)
Penulis : Judith Mcnaught
Tebal : 600 halaman
Penerbit : Gramedia Pustaka Utama

Intinya, novel karangan Judith Mcnaught pasti bikin cape hati bacanya.

Kalau tebal, dijamin nggak keburu. Hehe...

 Ibuk by Iwan Setyawan
Draf 1:Taktik Menulis Fiksi Pertamamu by Winna Efendi

Kyaaaa.... SS-ku baik sekali, sangat tepat menebak apa yang saya mau. Hahaha...

Kayaknya gambarnya kurang jelas. Saya tulis lagi.

Dear Sabrina,

Merry Christmas
25 Desember 2012
 &
Happy New Year
01 Januari 2013

Sebelumnya saya minta maaf karena kadonya telat...
Dan kuharap kamu senang atas buku-buku ini :)
(Saya harap kamu kenal saya)

Best Regards,
ss
Black Cat

Errr... Walaupun saya baca Detektif Conan, kemampuan menyelidiki saya tidak pernah bertambah sedikitpun. Maklum, lemot. Tapi saya punya dugaan sih siapa SS-ku. Tepatnya, saya tahu siapa orangnya walau masih ragu. *orang bimbang dan galau

Kartu Natal "unyu" dari SS-ku. Ih, lucu banget sih kartunya haha...
(Tulisan "Black Cat" dan "Who is my Secret Santa" itu editan saya,

Who is my Secret Santa? Ditunggu saja tebakan saya tanggal 31 Januari 2013. Semoga benarrrrr...

TBBR Pile of Fantasy Reading Challenge 2013

Kebetulan tahun lalu saya banyak sekali membaca buku fantasi.

Saya mengalami kemajuan dibanding tahun lalu.

(cieeeee...) Entah kenapa saya yakin kalau saya bakal susah menemukan waktu untuk baca. Tapi tetap harus baca atau saya mati. (lebay mode on)

Top 10 best books I read in 2012 (not in order):
1. Dreaming of You by Lisa Kleypas (historical romance)
2. The Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa (young adult fantasy)

8. If I Stay by Gayle Forman (young adult)
9. The Iron King by Julie Kagawa (young adult fantasy)
10. Eon by Alison Goodman (young adult fantasy)

Until next year...

Before I Fall

Title : Before I Fall
Writer : Lauren Oliver
Number of Page : 470
 Publisher : HarperCollins

What if you only had one day to live? What would you do? Who would you kiss? And how far would you go to save your own life?

Samantha Kingston has it all: looks, popularity, the perfect boyfriend. Friday, February 12, should be just another day in her charmed life. Instead, it turns out to be her last.

The catch: Samantha still wakes up the next morning. Living the last day of her life seven times during one miraculous week, she will untangle the mystery surrounding her death--and discover the true value of everything she is in danger of losing.

In my opinion:
“Maybe you can afford to wait. Maybe for you there's a tomorrow. Maybe for you there's one thousand tomorrows, or three thousand, or ten, so much time you can bathe in it, roll around it, let it slide like coins through you fingers. So much time you can waste it.

But for some of us there's only today. And the truth is, you never really know.”

Those words were printed at the first page of this book. Even before I read the whole story, I'd already felt sad.

Samantha Kingston was once an ugly duck. She was part of unpopular students and she had always hoped to be popular. Yeah, most teenage girls did. And for Sam, she was so lucky when Lindsay became her friend. Suddenly, she became the object of jealousy from other girls. Her crush who didn't care about her before was her boyfriend now. People admired her and wanted to be her friend. To maintain that status, she learned how to dress and followed all "popular" rules. She even left her nerdy best friend, Kent Mcfuller.

I think it was a gift that Samantha could at least live awhile and realize her mistakes before she died. How many people out there who could fix their mistakes before they die? If you died in a sudden accident like Sam, you couldn't even have a chance tell your loved ones how much you cared about them and how much they meant for you.

When Sam was introduced for the first time, I didn't like her at all. She could die or whatever for all I care. She was mean, proud, and bitchy. She even seduced her teacher, how disgusting was that? But, the sentences at the end of the first chapter stopped me.

"I know some of you are thinking maybe I deserved it. Maybe I shouldn't have sent that rose to Juliet or dumped my drink on her at the party. Maybe I shouldn't have copied off Lauren Lornet's quiz. Maybe I shouldn't have said those things to Kent. There are probably some of you who think I deserved it because I was going to let Rob go all the way-- because I wasn't going to save myself.

But before you start pointing fingers, let me ask you: is that what I did really so bad? So bad I deserved to die? So bad I deserved to die like that?

Is what I did really so much worse than what anybody else does?

Is it really so much worse than what you do?

Think about it."

Right. What Sam did was not the worst, but still very bad. I hated her but when I finished this book, I liked Sam very much and I was so sorry she had to end her life like that. She was very nice. The way she took care of her sister, giving special gifts to certain people, accepting all her friends even if they were annoying... She changed a lot. Repeating her last days made her realize that her life was useless and shallow. If only young people knew about it and made amends of their lives. Drugs, popularity, partying are worthless. Money is the best. Don't read what this workaholic, money lover, and crazy reader writes.  Even I know many people who cry a lot because their lives in high school are suck. It is a pity that most people know the truth after they grow up and had gone through many experiences. Too late =.=

What I like from this book was how Lauren Oliver could make me care about all characters despite of their flaws. I realized that even the mean, self-centered, and dumb Lindsay had something good within her. It didn't mean that I could forgive Lindsay for what she did to Juliet but at least I could understand. Some people were not sensible sometimes, especially unstable teenagers.

However, I think it was not fair for Sam that she was the one who paid for Lindsay's mistakes. Really, what happened to Juliet was so horrible. Why weren't there anyone wanted to become her friends? Prejudice happened all the times, but why did all believe what the rumors said? Didn't want to be marked "psycho" as Juliet? Bunch of fools *rolling eyes

Oh, there was romance in this book. The sweet childhood best friend, Kent Mcfuller. This boy was so cute. He had always loved Sam since they were kids.

“I vowed after that day that I would be your hero too, no matter how long it took.” Awwwww...

If only he knew how much Sam regretted for abandoning him, how much she loved him. She should tell him that she repeated her life on and on. But, maybe she was given that miracle only to fix Juliet and learn how to love. The end was still the same.

Fifty Shades Darker

Title : Fifty Shades Darker
Writer : E. L. James
Number of Page : 532
Publisher : Vintage

Daunted by the singular tastes and dark secrets of the beautiful, tormented young entrepreneur Christian Grey, Anastasia Steele has broken off their relationship to start a new career with a Seattle publishing house.

But desire for Christian still dominates her every waking thought, and when he proposes a new arrangement, Anastasia cannot resist. They rekindle their searing sensual affair, and Anastasia learns more about the harrowing past of her damaged, driven and demanding Fifty Shades.

While Christian wrestles with his inner demons, Anastasia must confront the anger and envy of the women who came before her, and make the most important decision of her life.

In my opinion :
I was curious. I wanted to know what happened after Ana left Christian.

Well, I was quite surprised. After three short days (three days!!!!!), they met again. Christian had promised to accompany Ana to Jose's photo exhibition. They talked about separation, feeling, and other things. Christian wanted Ana to come back. He would change and do anything as long as Ana agreed to be his again.

Of course, Ana agreed. She was devastated when she left Christian and she didn't want to face that again. And luckily Christian did change. He was more gentle, kind, carefree, and normal. He didn't ask Ana to be his Sub anymore, no more Red Room of Pain. He even confessed his love (at last!).

Until one of his ex appeared. Her name was Leila and she threatened Ana's life. At this point, Ana thought about leaving Christian again. Christian had too many issues. Ana saw the submissive expression from Leila and how Christian took care of her. The connection between them made Ana realize that she would never be able to give that to Christian. She could never be a Sub. Furthermore, Ana couldn't stand Elena, Christian's first lover. It was Elena who taught him everything about BDSM. Elena was much older than Christian, but she ruined Christian since he was young. However, Christian still considered her as a friend. Ana couldn't understand that and it was just too much.

Christian knew that Ana wanted to leave and he was panic. He begged and knelt in front of Ana, ready to become her Sub. It was shocking, really. The arrogant, proud Christian Grey begged! Ana stunned, cried, and she knew she couldn't leave this broken man. She loved him and she just needed to accept all of the fucked-up things about him.

But, Christian took that moment to confess everything. He hated himself and he always thought that he didn't deserve to be loved. He even said that he liked hitting Ana and other brunette girls because they all looked like his mother. That was the reason why he chased Ana at the first place. He wanted to use Ana, punish her hard, as if she was her mother, mother who had abandoned him and made his life miserable. I felt sad for Ana, she stuck with Christian. She would forever remember that Christian was attracted to her because of his hatred toward his mother. But, she couldn't leave because she didn't want to hurt Christian and also because she loved him too much.

Okay, that was the first part of this novel. And I liked it. The plot was interesting and many problems emerged creating dilemmas and doubts. Ana had to see who Christian was and what kind of man she was dealing with. And she should decide whether she wanted to continue the relationship or not.

I quite admired Ana for her stupidity sticking with Christian. I knew true love was like that. You accept all the weaknesses, stick to them although they hurt you many times. Whatever. Sorry, for being cynical. But I didn't like Christian Grey. He shouldn't use women for releasing his anger toward his mother. It was just so wrong. And Ana forgave him easily =.=

Anyway, it was still okay. This book made me mad and it meant I cared for the story (haha, lame reason). I decided to give this book four stars, but then I changed my mind. After the first half of the book, the story was going down and down and down... Christian changed suddenly. He became the sweetest man in the world.  He kept saying "I love you" throughout the pages and it was sooooooo boring. The love scenes were even more boring. Same, repetitive explanations were used, I felt like reading the same scenes over and over again. There was no plot development at all, except Ana's pervert boss and when Christian had accident. I need something dramatic :( Moreover, the writing was still as poor as the first book.

The most favorite scene was the marriage proposal. It was warming and sad, I didn't know why. Maybe because Ana could actually change Christian at the end.

“You wanted hearts and flowers,” he murmurs.
I blink at him, not quite believing what I’m seeing.
“You have my heart.” And he waves toward the room.
“And here are the flowers,” I whisper, completing his sentence. “Christian, it’s lovely.”

Oh, I had a complaint. Christian was rich and he could earn 100.000 dollar per hour. He was 27 years old. Is that even possible? So young and so successful. 100.000 dollar per month is believable, but per hour??? If his company was 200 years old, it would be likely. But, he built it from scratch. Well, it was author's right though to create such unbelievably rich character.

I prefer Fifty Shades of Grey to this. However, I still think that the first half of this novel is amazing.
