The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Prisoner's Dilemma

Title : The Mysterious Benedict Society And The Prisoner's Dilemma
(The Mysterious Benedict Society #3)
Writer : Trenton Lee Stewart
Number of Page : 391
Publisher : Little Brown And Company

This is the last book of The Mysterious Benedict Society. I feel sad for saying goodbye to the kids.

Okay, it's kinda hard for me to write reviews for adventure books because the whole stories are about the journey. I cannot spoil it because then you just lost the fun.

Anyway, the last book was about Ledroptha Curtain again. He was out there planning wicked plans to steal the Whisperer machine. Because of that, Mr. Benedict concerned about the safety of the children (Kate, Rennie, Sticky, and Constance) and he asked them to stay in his house. They were not allowed to go outside without supervision.

The children were stucked and they were bored. Until one day, suddenly the whole town was dark. Lights were all out. And the bad Mr. Curtain came silently to take the machine.

For me, the appeal of Mysterious Benedict Society series was the riddle. However, the last book was unfortunately lack of riddles. There are more actions, running, chasing, and traps. It's a nice read but I don't know why it feels bland. It's not as excited as the previous two books.

The ending is superb and heart-warming. Happy ending, of course. And I like the poem that Constance write to Mr. Benedict. Genius and funny! But, it's too long to write it here.

I think for these series I like the second book the most. It's more memorable, don't know why.

The Mysterious Benedict Society series :
1. The Mysterious Benedict Society
2. The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey
3. The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Prisoner's Dilemma

=.= Such a long title, eh?

Secret Garden

Judul : Secret Garden
Penulis : Frances Hodgson Burnett
Tebal : 320 halaman
Penerbit : Gramedia Pustaka Utama

The Mysterious Benedict Society and The Perilous Journey

Title : The Mysterious Benedict Society And The Perilous Journey
(Mysterious Benedict Society #2)
Writer : Trenton Lee Stewart
Number of Page : 440
Publisher : Little, Brown Company

More adventures and riddles again. I was so excited meeting the children again.

One year had passed since the last adventure, the four children would meet again in Mr. Benedict's house. However, something happened. Mr. Benedict was captured by the evil Mr. Curtain. And only The Mysterious Benedict Society who could save him.

This time, we would get clues and riddles from Mr. Benedict himself. He had prepared presents for the four of them. And to find the presents, they had to solve the riddles. These riddles brought them to interesting yet dangerous journey.

Another warm story with great friendship morals. The book taught us how to appreciate other despite of their weakness. Recommended to all creatures in the world, haha...

The Mysterious Benedict Society

Title : The Mysterious Benedict Society (Mysterious Benedict Society #1)
Writer : Trenton Lee Stewart
Number of Page : 492
Publisher : Little, Brown Company

I just don't realize how I miss children books until I read this. It was a long time ago since I read children adventures like The Famous Five Enid Blyton and Roald Dahl's books. Then suddenly I picked this book and read it. And, wow! It was a wonderful, funny, and cute adventure.

Mysterious Benedict Society will amaze you who like riddles and brainstorming clues. And for myself, I love the characters because they are so cute. They are children after all.

The story started with Reynie Muldoon wanted to take a test for special kids. The test was posted in the newspaper and he wanted to try it. Well, the tests were so challenging and interesting. This was the best part of the book when Reynie met the other students who also passed the test. They were George "Sticky" Washington, Kate Wetherall, and Constance Contraire.

Actually, the test was brought by Mr. Benedict, a genious who suffered from narcolepsy (sleep suddenly without warning <--how strange is that?). He had detected a problem that happened across the country without anyone notice it. People were missing and no one knew about it. Mr. Benedict needed the four children to act as secret agents to go inside an academy in which he believed the prisoners were.

Then, the adventures began.

This book is very engaging. I keep wanting to know what happen next. And I like Constance because she was just so cute with her clumsiness and grumpiness. She was short and always left behind. I also like Reynie for his thoughtfulness. Even I like Kate for her dexterity and Sticky for his sticky mind. Ah, I just love the children. I want to hug them all. Kyaaaaaa!

Nice reading.

A Little Princess

Judul : A Little Princess
Penulis : Frances Hodgson Burnett
Penerbit : Gramedia Pustaka Utama

Resensi :

What is the biggest challenge in your life?", dia menjawab, "The biggest challenge in my life is always trying to stay positive. I consider myself the kind of person who always looks at the glass half full instead of half empty. And even though sometimes in difficult times it's hard to look at life this way, I always try to maintain the positive look in life."

Empat bintang. Keren banget ceritanya. Bukan rame atau apa, tapi moralnya bagus. Buku yang sangat tepat dibaca untuk anak-anak. Biarkan mereka percaya akan keajaiban.

Everyone can be a princess if they want to believe it :D Miracles do happen, folks!

Tambahan quote dari goodreads dalam bahasa aslinya :

“When you will not fly into a passion people know you are stronger than they are, because you are strong enough to hold in your rage, and they are not, and they say stupid things they wish they hadn't said afterward. There's nothing so strong as rage, except what makes you hold it in--that's stronger. It's a good thing not to answer your enemies.”

Makjang, mantap!!!

Dreamer has an addiction *quoting from Dexter, the serial killer without feelings, brrrr...
