Review:

Sesuai dengan jeda penerbitan buku ini dengan buku sebelumnya, ada jeda 6 tahun dari ending terakhir The Bands of Mourning. Agak bagus juga sebenarnya. Saya mulai diingatkan kembali posisi tiga karakter utama di seri Mistborn Era 2 ini. 

Wax yang sudah pensiun dari perannya sebagai senjatanya Harmony akhirnya sibuk dengan urusan politik di antara para bangsawan. Dia dan Steris sudah punya anak sehingga perannya lebih di latar belakang. Sementara itu, Marasi masih tetap menjadi detektif dan Wayne jadi partnernya di kepolisian. Mereka aktif menyelidiki tentang sisa-sisa misteri penjahat dari buku sebelumya. 

Saya sudah menuliskan bahwa buku The Bands of Mourning agak terlalu random dan tiba-tiba berganti arah dengan munculnya misteri baru. Misteri itu memang berlanjut di buku ini. Logam yang hilang kembali ditemukan dan dunia Mistborn ini semakin luas karena kemunculan para karakter yang bisa berpindah dunia dalam seri Cosmere. Saya bukan penggemar fanatik yang tahu segala hal tentang Cosmere, jadi mungkin itu kenapa saya tidak sesuka itu sama buku ini seperti pembaca lainnya. Saya malah merasa agak overwhelmed sama semua yang terjadi. Untung saja, saya membaca seluruh cerpen dan novela mengenai Mistborn sehingga tidak terlalu tersesat. Ternyata cerpen dan novela itu bacaan wajib sebelum buku ini. Kemunculan tokoh lama yang tiba-tiba itu akan sangat aneh kalau tidak membaca Mistborn: The Secret History. Walaupun, saya tetap kurang suka dengan kemunculan tokoh itu. Saya tahu dia ada peran penting nantinya karena sepertinya akan ada Mistborn Era 3. Tapi gitu deh. 

Endingnya agak bikin sedih sih. Saya tahu dari tengah-tengah buku salah satu tokoh pasti akan mati. Death flag banget. Hanya saja saya mengikuti tokoh itu dari awal hingga sekarang. Benar-benar kerasa sakit hatinya.
