Review:

Saya cukup semangat mau baca buku ini. Saya penasaran bagaimana penulis menceritakan kisah awal seseorang yang tadinya baik hingga akhirnya menjadi jahat. Ujung akhirnya kan sudah jelas. Catherine bakal jadi Queen of Heart dari kisah Alice in Wonderland yang jahat. Tapi kenapa dia bisa jadi seperti itu?

Lucunya ternyata si Catherine ini suka memanggang kue. Saking sukanya, dia jago banget bikin kue macam-macam dan bahkan disukai sang raja. Orangtuanya memang tidak setuju dengan hobinya itu. Tapi mereka tidak melarang saat raja meminta secara khusus kue-kue buatan Catherine.

Sang raja sudah jelas jatuh cinta pada Catherine dan ingin menikahinya. Tapi Catherine tidak suka. Dia mau bikin bisnis kue bersama pelayan pribadinya. Apalagi dia bertemu dengan Jest, cowok misterius yang membuatnya terpikat.

Saya tidak pernah membaca buku Alice in Wonderland. Saya cuma tahu karakter-karakter intinya. Cheshire, Mad Hatter, Caterpillar... Saya cukup suka bagaimana tokoh-tokoh itu muncul dengan uniknya di buku ini. Tapi ekspektasi saya di awal memang cukup tinggi. Saya berharap perubahan sifat Catherine menjadi jahat itu bakal sangat keren. Sayangnya, itu hanya terjadi di akhir dan sangat singkat. Saya mengerti sih. Tragedi dan pengkhiatan yang dialaminya cukup tragis. Cuma mungkin saya berharap lebih.
