Buku ini mencakup dua novela dan jurnal Juliette. Jujur saja, setelah baca buku ini, saya baru benar-benar menghargai cerita di seri utamanya. Ternyata bagus juga.

Novela pertama berjudul Destroy Me yang diceritakan dari sudut pandang Warner. 

Dulu sewaktu saya baca Shatter Me, saya selalu bertanya-tanya kenapa si Warner bisa suka sama Juliette. Tidak ada tanda-tandanya sama sekali. Yah, mungkin itulah jeleknya sudut pandang orang pertama. Saya tidak tahu apa yang ada di otak Warner. Kesannya jadi creepy saat tiba-tiba Warner menyatakan cinta pada Juliette.

Lalu saya membaca Destroy Me. Serius. Tahereh Mafi benar-benar mencurahkan seluruh kemampuan menulisnya di sini. Saya bisa merasakan rasa sakit, kesepian, dan frustrasi seorang Warner. Hanya sedikit tokoh kesepian yang bisa menyentuh hati saya. Dan Warner ini salah satunya. Cara Tahereh Mafi menggambarkan proses Warner yang perlahan-lahan jatuh cinta pada Juliette itu luar biasa. Wow. Tadinya saya biasa saja sama tokoh ini. Sekarang saya beneran jatuh cinta sama si Warner. 

Setelah baca Destroy Me, saya jadi sadar. Sepertinya Tahereh Mafi sengaja menuliskan narasi aneh dan tidak masuk akal milik Juliette di buku Shatter Me. Setelah dikurung beratus-ratus hari sendirian di dalam kegelapan, Juliette jadi gila. Tidak aneh kalau suara hatinya juga penuh bahasa orang tidak waras. Bukan karena diksi Tahereh Mafi yang jelek. 

Novela kedua berjudul Fracture Me yang diceritakan dari sudut pandang Adam.

Jelas sekali Warner jauh lebih mencintai Juliette dibanding Adam. Bukan karena cinta Adam yang salah dan kurang tulus. Tapi karena Adam punya adik dan sahabat yang juga disayanginya, sementara Warner hanya punya Juliette seorang. Kontras kan? Tapi karena ini romance, saya tetap pilih Warner yang lebih berdedikasi dalam perasaannya. 

Inilah kenapa saya agak menjauhi romance. Terlalu banyak cowok sempurna dan keren sehingga otak ini tidak bisa hidup di dunia nyata, hahaha...

5 bintang untuk Destroy Me dan 3 bintang untuk Fracture Me. Saya tidak sabar menunggu buku keempat dari seri Shatter Me. Sudah seharusnya dilanjutkan karena ending di buku ketiga sama sekali tidak menyelesaikan apa-apa.

Books Read in 2017

Happy New Year!!!

Tahun baru lagi. Betapa cepat waktu berlalu dan saya bingung setiap kali satu tahun selesai dilewati. Saya selalu merasa kalau saya belum melakukan apa-apa selama setahun.

Tapi, tahun 2017 adalah tahun yang cukup produktif bagi saya dalam hal membaca. Saya berhasil menyelesaikan 65 buku, lebih banyak dari tahun sebelumnya. Tahun 2017 adalah tahun di mana saya mulai menelaah apa saja yang salah dalam hidup saya. Saya ingat betapa stres dan tertekan saya di tahun 2016, sampai-sampai kesehatan saya memburuk dan saya hampir selalu benci bangun di pagi hari. Saya juga tidak banyak membaca buku tahun lalu sehingga saya merasa sumber escape saya kurang.

Tahun 2017 adalah tahun penyembuhan. Saya mulai membuang banyak hal toxic dalam hidup saya, termasuk keluar dari pekerjaan-pekerjaan yang tidak saya sukai. Kesannya saya mulai memberontak. Tapi demi kesehatan mental dan jasmani saya, saya harus berani mengambil keputusan itu.

Alhasil, saya banyak membaca buku yang saya sukai. Saya lebih bahagia dan tidak stres setiap waktu. Saya mencoba memperbanyak alone time saya supaya saya tidak lagi merasa tertekan lagi.

Bisa dilihat kalau saya cenderung membaca genre fantasi sekarang. Saya sudah mulai bosan dengan contemporary karena saya mencari semacam dunia berbeda di dalam buku. Saya lebih suka membaca ide-ide, sihir-sihir, dan kerajaan-kerajaan baru. Saya lagi malas sama dunia normal yang terlalu biasa. Hehehe...

Untuk tahun 2018, saya memasang target 60 buku. Kecepatan membaca saya semakin lambat dan saya tidak tahu apakah tahun depan bisa seproduktif tahun 2017.
